Urbia Meléndez Rodríguez (born July 30, 1972 ) is a former Cuban Taekwondoin .
Career
Urbia Meléndez first won the silver medal at the Pan American Championships in 1994 in Heredia in the weight class up to 51 kilograms, before she was Pan American champion two years later in Havana in the same weight class. At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney she reached the fight for the gold medal after three wins, in which she lost to Lauren Burns 2: 4 and thus received the silver medal. Her best result at the World Championships she achieved in 2001 in Jeju when she reached the quarter-finals.
