Lauren Chantel Burns , OAM (born June 8, 1974 in Melbourne ) is a former Australian Taekwondoin .
successes
Lauren Burns won bronze at the 1997 World Championships in Hong Kong in the weight class up to 51 kilograms. At the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000 she reached the final fight in the weight class up to 49 kilograms after two victories, in which she defeated Urbia Meléndez 4-2 and thus became Olympic champion .
Burns received the Australian Sports Medal on August 23, 2000 and the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) on January 26, 2001 . In 2017 she was inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame .
