history

The travel blog Urlaubspiraten.de started in 2011. The idea comes from Igor Simonow, who began as a student to track down and publish cheap travel offers on the Internet. In 2012 Igor Simonow and Sebastian Kaatz founded HolidayPirates GmbH.

Founder Igor Simonow was awarded the “Top under 30” prize by the tourism trade magazine FVW in September 2014 , which is given annually to young tourism professionals under 30 years of age.

Since November 2014, the management has been strengthened by the former FTI manager David Armstrong, who took up the position of Chief Operating Officer and has been the Group's Chief Executive Officer since mid-2016 . At the beginning of 2018, the C-Level was increased internally by three people, as a result of which the founders left the operational business.

In November 2014 VoyagesPirates SAS was founded in Lyon, France, and in February 2015 HolidayPirates Ltd. in London. Since May and June 2015, the offers have also been available for target groups in Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
