Urs Breitenberger

Urs Ferdinand Breitenberger (born October 15, 1987 ) is a German deaf athlete in tennis .

Career

Urs Breitenberger has been playing tennis for his home club, the Andernach tennis club, since he was 13. Because of his achievements he also became internationally known and came into the squad of the German deaf team and was used at several Deaflympics .

At the Deaflympics in Sofia 2013 he won two gold medals for the German national team, including one with Hans Tödter in doubles. For this he was voted Deaf Athlete of the Year for 2013. In addition, Federal President Gauck awarded him the Silver Laurel Leaf for his athletic achievements .

At the ITF Future Nord 2017 in Kaltenkirchen he played for the first time in the main draw of the doubles competition at a tournament of the ITF Future Tour . At the Deaflympics 2017 in Samsun , Turkey , Urs Breitenberger took part again with his doubles partner Tödter. It was only in the final that the two lost to their opponents and achieved the silver medal.
