Urs Frey (documentary filmmaker, 1960)

Urs Frey Lehmann (born November 25, 1960 in Samedan , Graubünden ; † June 17, 2008 there ) was a Swiss documentary filmmaker .

Life

After training as a primary school teacher , Urs Frey worked as a museum educator and exhibition designer at the Bündner Naturmuseum in Chur . He also worked as a journalist. He later studied cultural geography in Bern . After graduating in 1994, he taught art at the Lyceum Alpinum Zuoz , worked as a freelance scientist and, from 1998, as a freelance filmmaker .

As a filmmaker he mainly worked for Televisiun Rumantscha . "He was interested in film portraits of extraordinary people, but also in cultural-historical and ethnographic topics." ( Bündner Tagblatt ) For his Rhaeto-Romanic and Italian films, he was repeatedly awarded at the Festival della Lessinia in Bosco Chiesanuova near Verona  .

Urs Frey lived with his wife and son in Soglio , later in Guarda . He died on June 17, 2008.
