Urs Glutz from Blotzheim

Urs Glutz von Blotzheim (born October 20, 1751 in Thierstein Castle , Büsserach municipality , † December 8, 1816 in Solothurn ) was a Swiss officer and politician.

Urs Glutz von Blotzheim was the son of the officer Jakob Joseph Nikolaus from the noble family Glutz von Blotzheim , who belonged to the patriciate of the city of Solothurn, and Anna Margaritha Josepha, née Wallier von Wendelstorf. From 1762 to 1769 he went to the Jesuit College in Solothurn, the predecessor of today's Solothurn Cantonal School , and in 1770 he became a lieutenant in the Swiss regiment in Sardinia . In 1773 he became a councilor, six years later he was a junior councilor and from 1782 to 1816 a conductor at St. Ursenstift . From 1798 he was a member of the provisional government of Solothurn. From 1800 to 1801 he was there education council, in 1801 a member of the administrative chamber and from 1801 to 1803 provisional senator and from 1801 to 1802 minor councilor and head of the Department of the Interior. From 1796 to 1815 he was Seckelmeister of the city of Solothurn, in 1814 Altrat and from 1814 to 1819 Seckelmeister to the provisional government.

In 1783 Urs Glutz von Blotzheim married Magdalena von Sury, the daughter of the old councilor Robert Georg. His sons are the writer and journalist Robert Glutz von Blotzheim and the clergyman Konrad Josef Glutz von Blotzheim .
