Ursula Hauptenthal

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ursula Hauptenthal (* 1955 in St. Wendel ) is a German artist and composer.

Live and act

She completed her Abitur in 1975 at the Heidegger Gymnasium in Meßkirch with the Abitur , for which she received the Scheffel Prize. She studied at the University of Applied Sciences Schwäbisch Gmünd and in 1976 at the College of Design in Pforzheim at Jürgen Brodwolf , Hetum Gruber , Klaus Ullrich and Ben Willikens . Her thesis on the forces of metals (1981) is a serial work on the physical properties of various metals and alloys, documented using deformations on cylinders.

Hauptenthal made sculptural jewelry until 1986. She then worked in the field of sound art , developing sculptural instruments made of steel , stainless steel and titanium , which are both an instrument and a sculpture. She also composes and developed her own language of notation . This creates semi-automatic drawings with vibrating strings and drawings of movement and sound. Metals, their properties and physical states are the focus of further works and installations , also in public spaces . In 1999 she also artistically photographed metals, light and water.

One of her best-known installation works of art is Das Tor zum Bodensee , two large metal wings measuring 5.5 meters high, pointing both in terms of traffic and symbolism between Stockach and Ludwigshafen in the direction of Lake Constance .
