Ursula Hook

Ursula Hook (born August 17, 1957 in Hanau ) is a former German athlete who specialized in the 800-meter run .

She won the silver medal at the Junior European Championships in 1975 with the German 4 x 400 meter relay . On July 16, 1977 in Stuttgart, Hook set her personal best in 1: 59.40 minutes on the 800 meter distance. Shortly afterwards she became German champion in Hamburg.

In 1978 she was canceled due to illness. On January 21, 1979, however, Hook in Dortmund was the first woman in the hall to stay under two minutes and set a new world record in 1: 59.9 minutes. In the open-air season she was German champion for the second time and at the European Cup in Turin she came in seventh. Due to the doping problem with the competition at the time, she ended her competitive sports career early.

Ursula Hook started for the LAZ Main-Kinzig Hanau (until 1976), the LG Marburg-Kirchhain (1977) and OSC Thier Dortmund (from 1978).
