Ursula Weber (athlete)

Ursula Weber (born September 26, 1960 in Vienna ) is a former Austrian discus thrower , shot putter and Olympian (1992).

Career

Ursula Weber came to the athletics section at the Vienna Cricket and Football Club at the age of 12 . She was trained by Karl Gratzl. After three runner-up titles (1982-1984) in discus throwing behind Maria Schramseis , she surprisingly became the state champion in the shot put in Vienna in 1984.

At the 1985 State Championships in Innsbruck, she was vice state champion shot put and discus behind Schramseis. In 1986 she threw 59.04 m at the first competition of the season in Linz at the end of April, thus improving the Austrian record in the discus throw. In 1986 she became the state champion discus throw and secured this title eight times in a row until 1993.

In 1986 she came in 14th place at the European Athletics Championships in Stuttgart . At the beginning of 1987 she moved to SV Schwechat .

At the European Championships in 1990 in Split, the Olympic Games in 1992 in Barcelona and at the World Athletics Championships in 1993 in Stuttgart, she was eliminated from the qualification.

From 1986 to 1993 she was Austrian champion eight times in a row. In the shot put she won the national title in 1984 outdoors and 1986 indoors.
