Usan House

Usan House is a mansion near the Scottish town of Montrose in the Council Area Angus . In 1971 the structure was included in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A. The associated stables, the lodge and the gate access are classified separately as Category B structures.

Usan House was completed in 1820. The billiard room was added around 1880. The mansion is around two kilometers south of Montrose near the North Sea coast. The mansions of Craig House and Dunninald Castle are a short distance away. The large two-story mansion is designed in a classical style. An Ionic portico emerges on its main facade and is accessible via a front staircase. The windows are crowned . The facades close with a cornice with a tooth cut .

stables

Usan House's stables, like Usan House itself, were built around 1820. They are located northeast of the manor house. The quarry stone building is designed with a segmented arcade . Associated with it is an elongated pigeon house that closes with a pyramid roof . The roofs are covered with slate.

Lodge and gate access

The lodge and gate, built around 1820, mark the northern approach to the property. The small one-story lodge has a classicistic design with a Doric entrance area. Their facades are plastered with Harl . The roof is slated. The natural stone pillars of the gateway are designed with grooved cornices and seated urns. Low, curved walls lead to the pillars.
