Usda ( Belarusian Узда ) is a place in Minskaya Woblasz in Belarus about 55 km southwest of Minsk on the Usdjanka River . The place is the administrative center of the Rajon of the same name and has about 9,600 inhabitants (2006).

history

From the 9th to the 13th centuries, the region was a border area between the Principality of Polotsk and the Principality of Turov . The current place is mentioned for the first time in 1450. Usda was officially founded on May 8, 1494. For a long time, the city was part of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania . The region was ravaged by both invading Tatars and Napoleon's troops .

In 1798 the Peter and Paul Church was built. In 1897 there were already 2,700 people in Usda. The place was raised to the center of the Rajon in the Minsk district in 1924, to an urban-type settlement in 1938 and was granted city rights in 1999.
