The Ussalgin ( Russian Усалгин , scientific transliteration : Usalgin ), also Ussolgin ( Russian Усолгин ), is a 142 km long tributary of the Sea of Okhotsk in the Khabarovsk region in the Far East of Russia .
River course
The Ussalgin runs in the far east of the Tuguro-Tschumikanski Rajons . It rises in a 400 m high ridge on the border with the Rajon imeni Poliny Ossipenko . From there it flows in a predominantly east-northeast direction through a valley to Nikolajabucht . This forms a deep bay on the side of the Academy Bay on the west coast of the Sea of Okhotsk. The Ussalgin has a strongly meandering behavior with countless narrow river loops. It finally flows into the southwest head end of Nikolajabucht. The estuary is 100 km east of the village of Tugur .
Hydrology
The Ussalgin drains an area of 2420 km². The river is frozen in the winter months.
Fish fauna
In Ussalgin come Ketalachse ago. These migrate up the river to their spawning grounds in the summer months . The peak of the salmon migration takes place between mid-July and early August.
