Ussbühl , also called Ussbüel or Nussbühl , is a hamlet in the political municipality of Glarus Nord in the Swiss canton of Glarus .
history
Until Glarus Nord was founded in 2010, Ussbühl belonged to the municipality of Bilten . In the middle of the 11th century, when Bilten was still called Billitun , the later Ussbühl was mentioned as Uspo . In 1345 a chapel was built in Uspo, which in the 16th century is called the Katharinen Chapel.
location
The scattered settlement lies between the Lediwald , part of the Niderenwald in the south-west and the Peat Stichsee in the north-east. The courtyards are grouped along Landstrasse ( Hauptstrasse 3 from Zurich to Glarus) and on the surrounding streets Lediweg, Gerbistrasse, Ussbühl, Niederrietstrasse and Grindwiesstrasse .
economy
The most important branches of business are agriculture , hospitality and small businesses. The largest employer is the international transport company Walter Heussi, which is run in the second generation.
