Usui-tōge Tetsudō Bunkamura
The Usui-tōge Tetsudō Bunkamura ( Japanese 碓 氷 峠 鉄 道 文化 む ら , German "Eisenbahnkulturdorf Usui-Pass ", English Usui Pass Railway Heritage Park ), popularly known as Poppo Town (German "Tschu-Tschu-Stadt"), is a Japanese theme and adventure park around railways in Annaka in Gunma Prefecture .
It opened on April 18, 1998 on the former Yokokawa Railway Station on the Shin'etsu Main Line , which ran from Yokokawa Station to Karuizawa Station . The Shin'etsu main line had ceased operations on the Usui Pass section on October 1, 1997. It is operated by a legal foundation ( 一般 財 団 法人 碓 氷 峠 交流 記念 財 団 ) of the East Japan Railway Company (JR East) and uses part of the disused route as an adventure area for trips with electric locomotives of the JNR class EF-63 and with railroad draisines . In addition, a museum ( 鉄 道 資料 館 , Tetsudō shiryōkan ) was set up on the company premises , which shows historical documents and owns a railway simulator, a park railway with a track width of 127 mm (5 inches ) and an H0 model railway with approx. 100 cars exhibits.
