Uszka ("ears", similar to tortellini ) are specially shaped small pasta products and are a specialty of Polish cuisine . These dumplings are also known in Russian , Belarusian and Ukrainian cuisine .

According to their shape, Uszka can be compared with auricles, hence its name ( Russian Ушки Uschki , Belarusian Вушкі Wuschki , Ukrainian Вушка Wuschka ). Typical fillings for uszka consist of sauerkraut and mushrooms or meat ; Spinach , on the other hand, is used less often.

They are mainly served as an addition to clear soups such as red barszcz and rosół (chicken soup). Barszcz with Uszka is a traditional Christmas Eve meal in Poland .
