Uta Dirksen

Uta Dirksen (* 1965 ) is a German doctor and university lecturer . Since 2017 she has held the endowed professorship for pediatric oncology at the Medical Faculty of the University of Duisburg-Essen .

Life

After graduating from high school, Dirksen studied human medicine from 1984 to 1986 at the Universities of Münster and Duisburg and from 1986 to 1991 at the University of Düsseldorf . She then worked at the Center for Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine at the University Hospital in Düsseldorf until 2005 . In 1997 she received her doctorate there and in 2001 trained as a specialist in paediatrics . In 2005 she went to the University Hospital in Münster , where she focused on oncology and pediatric hematology . Your work has received numerous awards.

In 2015, she took over from Heribert Jürgens at the Münster University Hospital as head of the Ewing Sarcoma Study Group of the Society for Pediatric Oncology and Hematology.

As part of the children's cancer program, Uta Dirksen has been involved since 2015 in setting up appropriate structures for treating cancer in children in Eritrea. She is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Sarcoma Conference . Since 2018 she has been the deputy chairwoman of the Society for Pediatric Oncology and Hematology.

In 2017, she received an endowed professorship for pediatric oncology from the Foundation for Children with Cancer , with which clinical and translational research in pediatric oncology at the University Hospital Essen is to be strengthened. She works as a deputy director at the Pediatric Clinic at the University Hospital Essen.

Uta Dirksen has four children.
