Ute Freund (* 1965 in Beuel ) is a German camerawoman .

Life

Ute Freund studied art history and film studies in Berlin from 1986 to 1990. She then completed a film degree (camera / image design) at the University of Hamburg, now the Hamburg Media School . Her diploma film Der Ausreißer (director: Ulrike Grote ) received the student Oscar in 2005 . In 2006 she was selected to participate in the Kodak Emerging Filmmakers Program in Cannes. In 2007 she received the Dortmund Prize for Female Visual Designers for her feature film debut You said you love me (director: Rudolf Thome ). In 2009 she was a jury member for the Dortmund Camera Prize together with Bella Halben and Sophie Maintignieux. Since 2010 she has been teaching at FilmArche eV and the UDK, Institute for Time-Based Media in Berlin. In 2011 she received the Best Cinematography award for Beit Sha'ar - Nomad's Home at the Independent Film Festival in Cairo .
