Uwe Blaurock

Uwe Blaurock (born February 4, 1943 in Munich ) is a German legal scholar .

Life

Blaurock studied law at the Universities of Würzburg and Freiburg / Breisgau. He passed his state law exams in 1967 and 1971. In 1970 he received his doctorate from the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg . He was assistant to Ernst von Caemmerer and completed his habilitation in Freiburg in 1977 in the subjects of civil law, commercial and business law and tax law. After a substitute professor at the University of Trier , Blaurock was full professor at the University of Gießen from 1978 to 1983 and from 1983 to 1995 at the University of Göttingen . From 1988 to 1995 he was also the German director of the Sino-German Institute for Law at the University of Nanjing (PR China). Since 1995 he has been a full professor at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg, where he was director of the Institute for Business Law from 1995 to 2011. From 2002 to 2004 he was Dean of the Faculty of Law. In 2011 he retired.

From 1978 to 1995 Blaurock was Secretary General and from 1998 to 2005 President of the Society for Comparative Law . Since 1999 he has been Concurrent Professor at the University of Nanjing and since 2001 President of the German-Chinese Lawyers Association. Blaurock is a member of the International Academy for Comparative Law (The Hague / Paris) and there President of the Northern and Central European group of countries. From 2010 to 2016 he was a member of the Arbitration Court of the German-Turkish Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Istanbul. Blaurock is co-editor of the Zeitschrift für Europäische Privatrecht (ZEuP) and several series of publications.

His main areas of work are company law, European private law, German and European business law and comparative law.

Blaurock's students are Axel Beater , Peter Jung and Philipp Lamprecht.
