Uwe Geese

Uwe Geese (born June 23, 1948 in Arolsen , today Bad Arolsen) is a German art historian .

Career

Geese studied art history, classical archeology , philosophy and modern German literature in Berlin (FU) and Marburg. In 1980 he received his doctorate in Marburg with Martin Warnke and Hans-Joachim Kunst with a thesis on medieval relics as media using the example of Marburg's Elisabeth relics . He then received the " Richard Hamann grant of the State of Hesse" and did research on the subject of "Landscape in the current art scene". This was followed by teaching activities in Osnabrück, Frankfurt am Main and Marburg. After doing cultural studies on the subject of the fair and advertising, he specialized in research on Baroque and Renaissance sculpture in the Liebieghaus , Museum of Old Sculpture, in Frankfurt am Main. Since then he has published numerous publications, especially on the history of Western sculpture, in a total of 20 languages. In 1986 he directed a cultural program in the then still young private radio company, for which he wrote numerous texts. He lives and works as a freelance art historian and author in Marburg.
