Uwe Hötzel (born June 8, 1959 ) is a former German soccer player. For FC Karl-Marx-Stadt and BSG Sachsenring Zwickau , he played between 1977 and 1983 in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football . Hötzel is a multiple GDR junior national player.

Athletic career

As a player for FC Karl-Marx-Stadt (FCK), Uwe Hötzel played seven international matches with the GDR junior national team between October 1976 and March 1977 , in which he was used as a striker. In the 1977/78 season he came to his first use in a league game. In the match on the 13th match day on December 17, 1977, the 18-year-old Hötzel played in the match between FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt - FCK (1-0) instead of the nominal left winger Hartmut Rauschenbach in his position. Although Rauschenbach was no longer used until the end of the season, Hötzel, who was 1.74, got no further chance in the FCK league team. In the following three seasons until 1981 he was always nominated for the junior league . In the autumn of 1978, coach Manfred Kupferschmied gave him the opportunity to establish himself as a striker on the left attacking side in four league games, but then refrained from further missions until the end of the season. In 1979/80 Hötzel made eight appearances between the 7th and 15th league game, in which he was in the starting line-up five times as a left winger.

Without further league stakes for FC Karl-Marx-Stadt, Hötzel moved to the league competitor BSG Sachsenring Zwickau in November 1980. On the 11th matchday he made his debut in the Zwickau league team as a substitute. Between the 15th and 18th matchday he was in the starting line-up as a left winger, after which Uwe Fuchs ran away from him, and Hötzel only came on as a substitute.

Although the BSG Sachsenring named Hötzel as a league player in the squad for the 1981/82 season, he was no longer used in the league for Zwickau. In fact, Hötzel had already returned to FCK in August 1981, where he had two short appearances in the league team on the 3rd and 9th matchdays. After Hötzel only came on for eight minutes on the 17th Bundesliga matchday in the 1982/83 season, the 24-year-old's commitment to FC Karl-Marx-Stadt was ended at the end of the season. In addition to his seven league games in Zwickau with two goals, he had only made 15 first division appearances in Karl-Marx-Stadt.

Hötzel continued his footballer career with the GDR league club Aufbau Krumhermersdorf . In the 1983/84 season he played twelve of the 22 played point games in which he came to scoring once. In 1984/85 he only made seven league stakes. At the end of the season Krumhermersdorf rose from the GDR league. Uwe Hötzel did not return to higher-class football afterwards.
