Uwe Harms (born February 7, 1963 in Klötze ) is a German CDU politician and a member of the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt .

Life and work

Uwe Harms attended the polytechnic high school until 1979 . This was followed in 1980 by the preliminary course at the Technical University of Magdeburg , which he completed in 1984 as a graduate teacher for mathematics and physics . From 1991 to 2006 he worked in the family business and from 2000 was managing partner of Harms GmbH .

Harms is married and has two children.

Politics and party

Harms joined the CDU in 1998 and has been the CDU local association chairman for Klötze- Schwiesau - Neuendorf since 1999 . He has been a member of the city ​​council since 2005 and is the deputy mayor of the city of Klötze. Since then he has also been a member of the district council .

Since the state elections in 2005, Harms has been a member of the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt for constituency 02 (Gardelegen-Klötze) . He sits on the finance committee for his group .

On May 14, 2013 Harms announced to the parliamentary group leader that he was leaving the CDU parliamentary group. At the press conference that was then arranged, Harms only gave a lecture on why the Altmark was unsuitable as a CO 2 repository. He did not comment on the actual exit. On May 21, the CDU parliamentary group announced that Harms wanted to remain in the parliamentary group after all.
