Uwe Jun

Uwe Jun (born February 11, 1963 in Braunschweig ) is a German political scientist and professor at the University of Trier .

Life

After studying German, social sciences and philosophy in Braunschweig and Göttingen, Jun 1993 received his doctorate in political science from the social sciences faculty of the University of Göttingen on the subject of "Forming coalitions in the German federal states". He was also a research fellow and lecturer at the Center for European and North American Studies of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Göttingen and 1997/98 Weatherhead / Thyssen Research Fellow at the Center for International Affairs at Harvard University in Cambridge / Ma. (UNITED STATES).

In 2003 , Uwe Jun submitted his habilitation thesis “The change of big parties in comparison” to the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Potsdam , where he was a research assistant at the chair “Government system of the Federal Republic of Germany” from 1998 to 2004. In 2004/2005 Jun represented the professorship for comparative political science and system theory at the Philosophical Faculty II of the University of Würzburg .

Since 2005, Uwe Jun has been Professor of "Government Theory - Western Government Systems (Federal Republic of Germany)" at the University of Trier, from 2011 to 2017 he was Dean of Faculty III, and from 2019 to 2020 Vice Dean. Jun received offers to the University of Würzburg for the professorship for comparative political science (2007) and to the Friedrich Schiller University Jena for the political system of Germany (2009), but accepted the offers to stay in Trier. For 2018, Jun received an invitation as an "Affiliated Professor" from Södertörns University in Stockholm.

For many years, Uwe Jun has been the spokesman for the “Party Research ” working group of the German Association for Political Science (DVPW). He is editor of the series "Parties in Theory and Empiricism" and "Politics and Communication".

Focus

His main research interests are party research , comparative parliamentarianism research, federalism , political communication and coalition research.
