Uwe Pühse

Uwe Pühse (* 1957 ) is a German sports scientist . He is full professor for sports science at the University of Basel and director of the department for sports, exercise and health there.

Life

From 1978 to 1986, Pühse studied sports science and English for a higher teaching post at the University of Bonn . After passing the state examination, he worked as a research assistant at the Institute for School Education at the University of Bonn until 1992 . In 1990 the doctorate to Dr. ped. (Diss .: Social learning in sport: a contribution to the sport-educational discussion of learning objectives ). In 1992 he was appointed Deputy Director of the Sports Institute of the Medical Faculty of the University of Basel. In 2000 he completed his habilitation in sports education at the University of Bonn . In 2001 he was re-qualified at the University of Basel and was appointed associate professor . In 2008 he was appointed full professor and director of the institute. In 2016 he was elected an International Fellow of the National Academy of Kinesiology .
