Uwe Streb (born April 17, 1963 in Pappenheim ) is a former German speed skater .

Career

Uwe Streb started speed skating in 1976 at the age of 13. In the same year his talent was recognized in the state decision of the schools in Inzell and henceforth promoted. In 1984 he set a new best time over 1000 meters with 1: 16.98 minutes and was nominated for the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo . There he started over 500 and 1000 meters and finished 26th and 15th. At the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary he started again in the same competitions, over 500 meters he reached rank 27 and on the 1000 meter distance he was disqualified.

In addition, he won a total of 16 medals at the German championships, nine of which were gold medals. In the World Cup he won two silver medals and was among the top 10 athletes in 39 of 97 races.

His father worked as a youth warden for the German Speed ​​Skating Association .
