Uwe Volkmann

Uwe Volkmann (born December 31, 1960 in Lünen ) is a German law scholar and university professor .

Live and act

Volkmann studied law at the University of Marburg from 1981 to 1987 and, after passing the second state examination in 1990, initially worked as a lawyer . In 1992 he was in Marburg with the work of political parties and public services PhD . From 1994 to 1997 he worked as a research assistant at Werner Frotscher in Marburg, where he also received his habilitation in 1997 with the text Solidarity - Program and Principle of the Constitution .

From 1999 he was a professor at the University of Mainz ; In 2001 he took over the chair for legal philosophy and public law there, succeeding Norbert Hoerster . On April 1, 2015, he moved to the University of Frankfurt am Main , where he took over the professorship for public law and legal philosophy.

The research focuses on constitutional theory , the assignment of the individual and community, fundamental rights , democratic theory , party law and the law of internal security .

Volkmann is married and has one child.
