Uwe Weber (born August 27, 1962 in Zschopau ) is a German enduro athlete . In 1987 he won the international six-day race in Jelenia Góra, Poland, with the German trophy team .

Athletic career

At the age of 17, Uwe Weber began actively doing enduro sports in the Zschopau Motorsport Club. In his first season in 1979 he was best in the GDR in the 175 cm³ ID class. After his apprenticeship as a motor vehicle mechanic, he moved to the sports department of the motorcycle factory in Zschopau in 1982 . In his first year he was a member of the winning silver vase team at the Six Days in Považská Bystrica . In 1984 Uwe Weber was GDR champion in the class up to 250 cm³ , third in the European championship and also third in the Six Days with the trophy team. Also in 1985 he was a member of the third-placed trophy team. In 1986 he won the GDR championship again. In 1987 he was a member of the victorious trophy team at the International Six-Day Race in Jelenia Góra, Poland . In 1988 and 1989 he was second in the GDR championship. In 1990 he switched to KTM and also left the MC MZ Zschopau club in favor of MSC Pfungstadt and won the German championship and the Enduro championship that year in the class up to 500 cc two-stroke. In 1991 he was a member of the second-placed trophy team. In 1992 he was German champion in the 350 cc four-stroke class. In 1991 and 1993 he was second in the German championship. In 1994 he started the toughest enduro contest that was held at the time, the Gilles Lalay Classic . Unfortunately, he was denied success here due to a technical defect. At the last time control, he was 20 seconds short of climbing Deadcrow Hill in place.

At the end of 1995 he ended his active career and only does enduro sport sporadically, but no less successfully. Examples of this were successful participation in the Yeti Challenge in Austria and the trophy senior competition “Around Zschopau”.

Since 1997 Uwe Weber has been very involved in the organization of enduro events, born here primarily at his home event around Zschopau and the side competition “Trophy Seniors Competition”. In 2001 the idea of ​​a world championship run in Zschopau was born and pushed with extreme effort and then implemented in 2004.

Uwe Weber has been running a scaffolding company since 1991 and also works as a trainer for enduro courses.
