Uwe Weller (born January 16, 1958 in Jeßnitz ) is a former German soccer player in midfield . He played for BSG Energie Cottbus in the GDR league .

Career

In his youth, Weller played at BSG Chemie Wolfen and Hallescher FC Chemie . He then played from 1977 to 1979 as part of his military service with ASG Vorwärts Cottbus-Süd, before moving to BSG Energie Cottbus in 1979, which was then playing in the second-rate GDR league. In his first season 1979/80 he was only used twice, including his debut on September 30, 1979 in a 3-0 win against ASG Vorwärts Plauen . In the following season, Weller scored three goals in 21 games and then completed all eight games in the promotion round. In the league season 1981/82 he played nine times. He had his first use on August 22, 1981, when he was in the starting line-up in the 5-0 defeat against Rot-Weiß Erfurt on the first day of the match and was substituted for Dietmar Drabow in the 46th minute . After the direct relegation he was only used in four games in which he scored a goal. Weller also played for the reserve team, for which he scored six goals in 23 games. In 1982 he moved to BSG Lokomotive Cottbus , where he stayed until 1985. He then went to BSG activist Dissenchen and ended his career there in 1989.
