The Uzin Utz Aktiengesellschaft , based in Ulm is a manufacturer of floor laying systems.

Since it was founded in 1911, Uzin Utz AG has developed from a regional adhesive manufacturer to a global full-service provider of flooring systems. The third generation family-run company with its brands UZIN, WOLFF, PALLMANN, Arturo, Codex and RZ offers everything to do with laying, renovating and maintaining the value of floor coverings of all kinds. The company, with its almost 1000 employees, is a leader in development and Manufacture of product systems, machines and tools for soil cultivation.

The company is listed on the CDAX. As the first non-family manager, Thomas Müllerschön took over the chairmanship of the board in January 2016. H. Werner Utz has been chairman of the supervisory board since May 2016, with the Utz family currently holding 55 percent of the company's shares. At the beginning of 2018, Julian Utz and Philipp Utz, the fourth generation of the family, were appointed to the board of the listed family company.

history

The company was founded in 1911 by Georg Utz as the manufacture of chemical products in Vienna. In 1948 his son Willi laid the foundation stone for the company's adhesive era, and the name Uzin was registered with the German Patent Office . In the 1970s to 1980s, the company consolidated its market position in Germany and Europe. Werner Utz was appointed to the company management during this time. In the mid-1980s, the company developed a complete range of adhesives. The company thus achieved its breakthrough in the flooring and parquet segments .

From 1989 to 1996 Uzin Utz specialized in the manufacture of branded products and as a service provider in the specialist construction trade , in interior design and in specialist retail. During this time the Uzin-ÖkoLine was introduced and the sales organization was expanded. In 1997 the company was converted into a public limited company. In the same year the share was floated on the stock exchange. With the takeover of the Swiss Tyro AG between 1998 and 2000, the stock corporation gained a second production site. The planning phase for two new dry mortar plants in Poland and France also started . The construction of a new logistics center in Ulm has started, from which deliveries are made throughout Europe. During this time, the company also took a stake in "Wolff Spezialmaschinen GmbH" in Vaihingen an der Enz , and the ÖkoLine production program was also expanded. In addition, “Pallmann GmbH & Co. KG” in Munich was taken over and a plant was opened in France. In 2003 the company bought the paint factory “Hch. Jordan ”in Würzburg .

In 2004 the Unipro companies in Haaksbergen (Netherlands) and Gent (Belgium) were taken over. In addition, “Pallmann GmbH & Co. KG” and “Lackfabrik Hch. Jordan GmbH "merged to" JP Coatings ". In 2005 Uzin Utz bought “SIGA Flor AG” and renamed it “Sifloor AG”. In 2006 all flooring activities were brought together under the Ufloor Systems umbrella brand . "Hermann Frank GmbH & Co. KG" in Flehingen was integrated into the group in 2007. The new tile brand codex emerged from the Uzin tiles and natural stone .

In 2008, the acquisition of "RZ Chemie GmbH" and "Genial Produkte GmbH" (Meckenheim near Bonn) followed and the Sifloor products were integrated into the Uzin brand. In 2009, the new Uzin Ökoline product line and a number of Pallmann products were awarded the " Blue Angel " environmental seal, which they now have in addition to the Emicode EC 1. In 2009 the takeover of DS Derendinger AG in Thörishaus , Switzerland took place.

Since 2010, Uzin Utz AG has been the first company in the industry to have a complete product system with its UZIN brand that has been certified with EPDs (Environmental Product Declarations). The Norwegian company Løkken AS in Skien has also been part of the Uzin Utz Group since 2011. In the same year, the Swabian family company celebrated its 100th anniversary.

In addition, JP Coatings GmbH was merged with Genial Produkte GmbH with retroactive effect from February 1, 2013. The company operates under the name Pallmann GmbH with headquarters in Würzburg. Uzin Utz AG also acquired further shares in Arendicom GmbH and thus now holds 35.0% of the company. In 2014, Hermann Frank Verwaltungs GmbH and Hermann Frank GmbH & Co. KG were renamed WOLFF Verwaltungs GmbH and WOLFF GmbH & Co. KG.

In 2015, the production of the newly built machine factory at the Ilsfeld site of WOLFF GmbH & Co. KG and Uzin Utz Manufacturing North America Inc. in the USA started. The first sustainability report was also published in the same year.

In 2016 there was a change in the board of directors - Thomas Müllerschön becomes chairman of the board. Beat Ludin and Heinz Leibundgut are also new members of the Executive Board.

In 2018 there was another change in the board of directors - Julian and Philipp Utz take over management of the company together with Heinz Leibundgut. In this, the international subsidiaries are renamed "Uzin Utz". With effect from August 1, 2018, the tool manufacturer "Pajarito" from Mettmann in North Rhine-Westphalia was taken over by Uzin Utz.
