Václav Vydra (actor, 1876)
Václav Vydra (born April 29, 1876 in Pilsen , † April 7, 1953 in Prague ) was a Czech actor and theater director .
Life
Václav Vydra was born in Pilsen as the son of a military musician and conductor. He spent part of his childhood in Linz and Vienna . In his native city of Pilsen, he attended a German-language high school, which he dropped out in 1893 in favor of an engagement at the theater. He earned a living in various theater groups and from 1907 to 1913 worked, among other things, as a theater actor in London . From 1913 to 1922 he worked as an actor and theater director at the Divadlo na Vinohradech and from 1922 to 1945 at the Národní divadlo , where he was director from 1945 to 1949. He was also employed several times abroad, including 1922 and 1929 in Ljubljana , 1930 in Warsaw and 1934 in Moscow .
In addition to the theater, Vydra was occasionally heard on the radio and starred in over 30 Czech films, including Melodie des Leben , Ein Rebell and kirz before his death also The Best Man . After he had been politically left-wing since the 1930s, he joined Komunistická strana Československa in 1945 .
His son was the actor Václav Vydra (1902–1979) and his grandson is the actor Václav Vydra (* 1956).
