The Väike-Emajõgi (German name: Kleiner Embach ; Võro Väikene Imäjõgi ; Russian Вяйке Эмайыги ) is an 82 km long river in southern Estonia in Valga County .
The Väike-Emajõgi has its source in the Otepää ridge on Lake Pühajärv . It flows into Lake Võrtsjärv at its southern tip.
Its main tributary is the Pedeli River . Other left tributaries are the Visula and Arnu rivers .
The catchment area of the Väike-Emajõgi covers about 1380 km².
Historically, there were only watermills on the upper reaches of the river because of the low gradient in the lower reaches . A map from 1796 shows seven mills. The mausoleum built in 1823 for the Michael Andreas Barclay de Tollys family is located in the river valley near the village of Jõgeveste ( Helme municipality ) .
