Véronique Carrot (born March 8, 1958 in Forbach ) is a musician, harpsichordist and choir director in the canton of Vaud .

biography

Véronique Carrot grew up in the Moselle department . Your parents lead choirs; her father founded the Psalette de Lorraine. Her family took part in the launch of the À Cœur Joie movement , a broad choral movement that shaped the young musician. She began studying music in France and continued it in 1975 at the Institut Jaques-Dalcroze in Geneva , founded in 1915 by Émile Jaques-Dalcroze .

Also in 1975 she met Christiane Jaccottet , with whom she studied harpsichord. At the same time she trained as a choir director at the Geneva Conservatory with Michel Corboz . She continued her harpsichord training with Scott Ross in Québec and achieved her virtuosity in the class of Christiane Jaccottet. After her various studies, she took over the management of the Chœur de la Cité in Lausanne as the successor to Michel Corboz .

As a harpsichordist, Véronique Carrot continues various discographic and scenic productions such as Orfeo by Monteverdi in Lyon, Aix and Geneva or Matrimonio segreto by Cimarosa. She appears as a soloist with major orchestras, such as the Orchester de la Suisse Romande , the Orchester de Chambre de Lausanne and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe .

She is also active with chamber music , where she plays to accompany singers or in trios or quartets. In addition to the Chœur de la Cité , which she directed until 2006, she took over the direction of other choirs from 1995: the Opéra de Lausanne , the Orchester des Rencontres musicales , the Orchester de Chambre de Lausanne and the Orchester de la Suisse Romande . From 1986 she conducted the choir of the Conservatoire de Lausanne . She always plays the harpsichord and leads choirs at the same time.

In 2007, Véronique Carrot took over the choir of the Geneva Conservatory . In 2011 she continued to teach music at the Geneva University of Music and chamber music at the Lausanne University of Music.
