Véronique Dasen

Véronique Dasen (born December 7, 1957 ) is a Swiss classical archaeologist who teaches at the University of Friborg . Her research focuses on interdisciplinary issues, in particular on the contribution of archeology and iconography to cultural history. Research fields are medical and body history as well as child and gender research.

Live and act

Véronique Dasen studied Classical and Provincial Roman Archeology , Ancient History and French Literature at the University of Lausanne from 1976 to 1982 and graduated in 1982 with a licentiate . She then did her doctorate in Egyptology and Classical Archeology at the University of Oxford and completed her habilitation in 2000 at the University of Freiburg. There she has been Professor of Classical Archeology since 2008.

She has worked as a visiting professor at various universities, including Bern , Lausanne , Angers , Palermo and Paris ( Paris I Sorbonne , Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes , Ecole normal supérieure ). She is a member of the ANHIMA research center ( Anthropologie et histoire des mondes antiques ) in Paris.

Since 2017 she has been leading the research project “Locus Ludi”, which deals with gaming culture in ancient Greece and Rome. The research project will last until 2022 and will be supported by the European Research Council with almost 2.5 million euros.
