Víctor Fernández López (born April 25, 1984 in El Ejido ) is a Spanish windsurfer . He has been one of the best drivers in the wave riding discipline for over ten years . In 2010 , 2016 and 2018 he became world champion in this discipline. He also won six runner-up world titles.
Fernández learned to windsurf at the age of five under the guidance of his father. As a reward for good grades, he traveled to Pozo Izquierdo ( Gran Canaria ) in the summer of 1998 , where the windsurfing spot there is a Mecca for wave riders. He started his professional windsurfing career three years later.
In the 2004 season he advanced to the top of the world wave (6th place at the end of the season). In this he established himself and became vice world champion in 2007 and 2008 , before becoming world champion in 2010. He was able to repeat this triumph in 2016. In 2017 he was runner-up again behind his long-term rival Philip Köster .
Fernández's home and favorite spot is Almería ( Spain ) and his favorite maneuvers are Wave 360 and Double Forward .
