Víctor Leteo Bacchetta (born March 22, 1943 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan journalist .

Live and act

Bacchetta completed an engineering degree at the Universidad de la República , which he did not graduate. Between 1962 and 1968 he took part in the student protests and was a member of the secretariat of the student organization Federación de Estudiantes Universitarios del Uruguay (FEUU). He was a founding member of the Movimiento de Acción Popular Uruguayo (MAPU) and the Grupos de Acción Unificadora (GAU), which was one of the founders of the Frente Amplio in 1971 . In the GAU he held managerial positions until he left the company in 1977.

In 1968 he started working as a journalist and worked here for the daily newspapers De Frente , Crítica , Democracia and Ya! , which had to cease operations in the years before the Uruguayan dictatorship that began in 1973. He also worked for the weekly newspapers and magazines Marcha , Sur and Respuesta . In 1974 he went into exile, where he remained until 1991. During this time he worked for newspapers and magazines in Buenos Aires, Havana, Mexico City , Rio de Janeiro and Santiago de Chile, where he was the press correspondent for Mexico, Peru, Spain, the USA, Sweden, Switzerland and Uruguay was. He also worked for the news agencies IPS , ALASEI and EFE .
