Víctor Manuel López (born April 9, 1971 in Libertad ) is a former Uruguayan football player .
Career
society
The 1.74 meter tall midfield and offensive player López was at the beginning of his career from 1990 to mid-1993 in the ranks of Club Atlético Peñarol . From mid-1993 to mid-1998 he was a player for Ferro Carril Oeste . For the Argentines, he played 112 first division games and scored 19 goals during this period. He then moved to Spain for FC Extremadura , but joined CA Independiente after a few weeks in August 1998 . At the club from Avellaneda he stayed until mid-2000. A total of 41 first division appearances and ten goals scored for him are in this career segment. This was followed by a career station at Los Andes that lasted until the end of June 2001 . He played 35 times in the top Argentinian league and scored five times in the opposing goal. He then returned to CA Independiente for another year and was used in another ten first division matches (no goal). The second half of 2002 he spent in the ranks of the Uruguayan first division club Defensor Sporting . The statistics show 20 first division appearances (no goal) for him. In 2003, when he was at the Russian club Uralan Elista , he had 25 first division matches and two personal goals. His last career position was from 2004 to mid-2006 at Centro Atlético Fénix in Montevideo . There he was used at least 17 times (one goal) in the Primera División .
National team
López made his debut on May 5, 1991 in the 0-1 defeat in the friendly against the USA under coach Pedro Ramón Cubilla with a starting eleven in the Uruguayan senior team . Two days later he scored his first and only goal in the "Celeste" shirt in a 2-0 win in the Camel Cup against Mexico. He played a total of seven international matches that year and was part of the 1991 Copa America squad . His eighth and last appearance in the national team was on November 16, 1997, when López, nominated this time by Roque Máspoli , beat Ecuador 5-3 with Uruguay in World Cup qualification.
