Vítor Manuel da Silva Caldeira (* 1960 in Campo Maior , Portugal ) was President of the European Court of Auditors from 2008 to 2016 .

Life

Vítor Manuel da Silva Caldeira holds a law degree from the University of Lisbon and a postgraduate degree in European Studies from the European Institute of the Faculty of Law at the same university.

From 1983 to 1984 he was Assistant to the President of the Law Faculty of the University of Lisbon and from 1984 to 2000 he was General Inspector of Finance in the Portuguese Ministry of Finance. From 1996 to 1999 he was an assistant professor at the Höchst Institute for New Professions .

Vítor Caldeira was elected President of the European Court of Auditors on January 16, 2008 for a term of three years. On January 12, 2011 he was re-elected for a second term and on January 23, 2014 he was elected for a third term. He remained president until September 30, 2016.
