Traditional history

House wall inscription of the Vögelesmühle

The mill was built around 1374 as a Stiftkemptische Burgmühle zu Wagegg . This year is also her first mention as "zem Vogellis". In 1443 Heinrich von Ysenburg the Elder sold the Vogilins mill to the respected citizen Martin Engelschalk of Augsburg for 8000 gulden and he, as Lord von Wagegk ( Wagegg ), lent it in 1454 for ten years, three of which were already over, to Jos Brenberg for 13 Fl Rheinisch (meaning the monetary value).

Knight Karl von Laubenberg, lord of Wagegg in 1572, lends the Vogelinsmühle to his serf Hans Brüer for his lifetime.

Strangely enough, the parish affiliation fluctuates between Lauben 1394 and St. Mang 1593, in the latter case it is assigned to the place Bockarten. At times it was the castle mill of Wagegg Castle, one kilometer to the west .

Interpretation of the place name

A Vogelin family coined the name of the wasteland, mill is a later addition.
