The Büschdorf Monument to the Battle of the Nations is a memorial stone in the city of Halle (Saale) in Saxony-Anhalt . It is under monument protection and is entered in the monument register with registration number 094 11507 as a small monument.

In the north of Büschdorf on the corner of Delitzscher Strasse and Käthe-Kollwitz-Strasse, the small memorial stands on a plaza-like recess north of the school in the former village.

Shape and history

The Völkerschlachtdenkmäler in Köthener Land and in the former Saalkreis are very similar in shape. They were erected on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Battle of the Nations near Leipzig . They mostly consist of a pile of stones, which is crowned by a large stone, often a boulder . He wears an iron cross and underneath it the years 1813 - 1913 .

The monument, made of porphyry stones , stands on a pavement made of the same material. It is framed in a similar way to Meilendorf or Wulfen . However, instead of a fence, it was decided to use pillars connected with a chain. Monument to the Battle of the Nations is part of the border area of war memorials , as they do not mention the names of those who fell, but remind of specific battles and thus also of their victims.

The memorial was completely overgrown by 2007, when it was barely exposed and restored by residents on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Nations in 2013. The Iron Cross, which disappeared in the 1980s, was also replaced.
