Location and shape

The Meilendorf Monument to the Battle of the Nations is a little more elaborate than in other villages in the vicinity of Köthen . It stands west of the church in the center of the village and is surrounded by a fence in the octagon. Boulders were stacked in a bed of gravel , on which a larger stone stands vertically and serves as an inscription stone. On this there is an iron cross and the words Oct. 18. / 1813-1913 . The small memorial complex, which was created on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Battle of the Nations near Leipzig , is crowned by a stone eagle sculpture. Like most memorials to the Battle of the Nations, this specimen also belongs to the border area of war memorials .
