The Hohsdorf Völkerschlachtdenkmal is a memorial stone in the town of Köthen in the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district in Saxony-Anhalt . The small monument is under monument protection and is entered in the monument register with registration number 094 70742 as an architectural monument.

Location and shape

The Monument to the Battle of the Nations in the Köthener Land are often designed similarly. The memorial stone in Straße des 7 Oktober in Hohsdorf also corresponds to this type: on a pile of stones, presumably consisting of reading stones and boulders , there is an upright stone with the inscription 18 October 1813–1913 . Above it, a circular structure can only be seen faintly, perhaps there was an iron cross there , which is also typical for memorial complexes of this type, but also in the similar complex in Piethenseems to be missing. The Völkerschlacht monuments were erected on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Völkerschlacht near Leipzig . They are part of the border area of war memorials , as they do not specifically remind of fallen fighters.
