Vũ Văn Mẫu

Vũ Văn Mẫu (born July 25, 1914 in Hanoi ; † August 20, 1998 ) was the last Prime Minister of the Republic of Vietnam (South Vietnam) from April 28, 1975 to April 30, 1975 .

Born in Hanoi, Vũ Văn Mẫu received his doctorate in law from the University of Paris and later became dean of the law faculty at the University of Saigon . In the 1960s he was the ambassador of the Republic of Vietnam in various European countries, later a senator. After the flight of President Nguyễn Văn Thiệu and the failure of President Trăn Văn Hương , Dương Văn Minh was again President of South Vietnam on April 28, 1975 and appointed Vũ Văn Mẫu as Prime Minister. On April 30, Dương Văn Minh had to announce the surrender to the Viet Cong and the dissolution of the South Vietnamese government. Since 1988 Vũ Văn Mẫu lived in exile in Paris, where he also died.
