Trần Văn Hương

Trần Văn Hương ( Hán Nôm : 陈文 香; * 1902 near Phan Rang (about 60 km south of Nha Trang ); † 1982 ) was a South Vietnamese politician.

biography

Trần Văn Hương was twice mayor of Saigon and Prime Minister of the Republic of Vietnam (November 1964-January 1965 and May-August 1969).

Under President Nguyễn Văn Thiệu , he was Vice President.

On April 21, 1975, President Nguyễn Văn Thiệu resigned and passed power to Vice President Trần Văn Hương. President Trần Văn Hương sent Nguyễn Văn Thiệu to Taiwan and tried unsuccessfully to negotiate peace with North Vietnam .

After a week in office, Trần Văn Hương handed over power to General Dương Văn Minh on April 28, 1975 .
