from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The VDI 3894 series of guidelines deals with emissions from animal husbandry systems . The associated VDI guidelines describe emission reduction measures, emission factors and distance calculations.

General

The series of guidelines currently consists of two sheets, which were published in September 2011 (VDI 3894 Part 1 Emissions and Immissions from Animal Husbandry - Husbandry Methods and Emissions - Pigs, Cattle, Poultry, Horses ) and November 2012 (VDI 3894 Part 2 Emissions and Immissions from Animal Husbandry - Method for determining the distance - smell ). The publication of the draft versions of both sheets was announced in the Federal Gazette . With the publication of Part 2 of the series of guidelines, the guidelines VDI 3471 Emission Reduction - Animal Husbandry - Pigs and VDI 3472 Emission Reduction - Animal Husbandry - Chickens , both from June 1986, as well as the draft guidelines VDI 3473 Part 1 Emission Reduction - Animal Husbandry: Cattle - Odors from November 1994 and VDI 3474 Emission Reduction - Animal Husbandry - Odorants from March 2001 withdrawn. Both guidelines of the series of guidelines VDI 3894 are part of volume 3 of the VDI / DIN manual for keeping the air clean , which is referred to in the TA Luft . Both guidelines are also part of the VDI manual for livestock husbandry . The guidelines are bilingual (German / English), whereby the German language version is binding. They can be obtained from Beuth Verlag . The German language version of the guideline is also printed in the third edition of the Commentary on the Building Usage Ordinance ( ISBN 978-3-406-64655-3 ) published by Verlag CH Beck .

Sheet 1 shows the state of the art in keeping the animal species listed in the title of the directive. In addition, there is the definition of convention values for emission factors for odorous substances , ammonia and dust . In addition, the possibilities are described and assessed how emissions from livestock facilities can be reduced. It should be used in the assessment of the keeping of farm animals in stables under immission control law.

Sheet 2 shows a new and simplified distance model with which odors can be assessed on the basis of distance control. The guideline is intended to apply to the assessment of the keeping of farm animals in stables under immission control law. The Board of Trustees for Technology and Construction in Agriculture has developed a distance calculator on the basis of the calculation model presented in the guideline and made it available on its website.
