The VEB Verpackungsmaschinenbau Dresden (VMB) was a state-owned enterprise for packaging machinery in the DDR .

history

The company was founded in 1972 in the city of Dresden through the merger of the VEB Schokopack Dresden and the VEB Tabakuni Dresden . VEB Verpackungsmaschinenbau Dresden became the parent company of VEB Kombinat NAGEMA . VEB was the world's most successful company for confectionery packaging machines, covering up to 70 percent of the worldwide demand for these machines between 1972 and 1990.

After the fall of the GDR , VEB Verpackungsmaschinenbau Dresden was no longer the main company since January 1, 1990. The Treuhandanstalt dissolved the combine . As a result of the dissolution of the NAGEMA combine , VEB Verpackungsmaschinenbau Dresden became Verpackungsmaschinenbau GmbH (1990/91) and renamed itself to Pactec GmbH in July 1991 . In 1994 Pactec GmbH was bought by the Cologne company Rose-Theegarten from the trust. The Theegarten-Pactec company was born .
