history

In 1947, three lower administrative courts were created in Freiburg, Baden-Baden and Constance by state ordinance of the state of Baden . In 1958, an administrative court was assigned to each administrative district in Baden-Württemberg . From then on, the Freiburg Administrative Court was responsible for the southern Baden administrative region. In the post-war period, the court temporarily had ten chambers. By shifting jurisdiction to the social courts , the number fell to the current six chambers.

Courthouse

First, an office was set up in the district office. At the end of 1949 the court moved into a building on Zasiusstraße . Several moves followed until a building on Dreisamstrasse became the seat of the court in 1958 . In 1978 an extension followed, in the meantime there were branch offices in Talstrasse and Basler Strasse . Since 2001 the administrative court has been housed in a new building on the former site of the Kepler grammar school in Habsburgerstrasse .

Due to the increase in lawsuits from asylum seekers , the court responsible for all of southern Baden received 17 new judges, limited to three to four years. In order to accommodate this, a branch office with an area of around 1000 square meters, two conference rooms and four offices was set up in an office building at Konrad-Goldmann-Strasse 8 in Wiehre . Four of the current 13 chambers with 19 judges and 8 employees have been housed there since July 2019.
