history

On February 27, 1898, Martin Irl , a master painter and later a member of the German Reichstag, gathered craftsmen and tradespeople in the restaurant “Zur Post” in order to found the “Gewerbeverein Erding”, later Volksbank Erding eG. The roots of VR-Bank Erding eG go back to the year 1895. On March 24th, 1895 the then Volksbank Westach-Isen eGmuH was founded.

After successful early years, the First World War , the recession of the 1920s and the Second World War were followed by difficult years for the cooperative, which had been trading as Volksbank Erding eGmuH since 1941. The premises of the Volksbank Erding were destroyed in the bombing raid on April 18, 1945. In the second half of the 19th century, due to a spectacular bank failure in the Freising district, the members there had unlimited liability. In order to prevent the members in Erding from quitting out of fear and withdrawing their equity, Volksbank Erding was the first cooperative bank in Bavaria to introduce a limitation of liability for its members. The eGmuH became the eGmbH.

After the currency reform in 1948, the membership increased and the banking business showed a positive development. The previous business premises soon became too small. The bank therefore acquired two properties at Zollnerstrasse 4, on which the main office is still located today.

After opening several branches in Klettham , Wartenberg and Neufinsing, the merger with Raiffeisenbank Reichenkirchen-Wartenberg followed in 1993. Since the merger with Raiffeisenbank Finsing-Neuching-Ottenhofen eG in 2003, the bank has operated as VR-Bank Erding eG.

On January 1, 2017, VR-Bank Erding eG and Raiffeisen-Volksbank Isen-Sempt eG merged. The company is still called VR-Bank Erding eG.
