The origins of today's bank go back to 1875. In 1993 the Raiffeisen-Volksbank Lichtenfels and the Raiffeisenbank Itzgrund merged to form Raiffeisen-Volksbank Lichtenfels-Itzgrund eG. In 2017, the Raiffeisen-Volksbank Ebern merged into the bank, which has since been called VR-Bank Lichtenfels-Ebern eG.
