As Vaarbewijs , actually small Vaarbewijs is in the Netherlands , the official license for skippers of pleasure boats called.

In the Netherlands, boats that are no longer than 15 meters and motor boats with a maximum speed of no more than 20 km / h can be driven without a boating license. The Klein Vaarbewijs is necessary for driving pleasure boats between 15 and 25 meters in length, commercial boats between 15 and 20 meters in length and motor boats with a top speed of more than 20 km / h .

Versions

There are two versions of the Klein Vaarbewijs :

  • Klein Vaarbewijs II , valid for travel on all inland waterways including the waters excluded from Klein Vaarbewijs I.

Acquisition

For the Vaarbewijs I , the exam consists of 40 multiple-choice questions. These must be clicked correctly on a computer. The examinee has a maximum of one hour for this. The highest possible number of points is 80 points. To pass the exam, at least 56 points must be achieved. The answers are assessed differently (1,2,3 points).

The questions include the topics of navigation , traffic rules, navigation signs, traffic on waterways, day and night vision signs of ships, acoustic signals, safety equipment, seamanship .

The minimum age for receiving the certificate is 18 years, the exam can be taken before the 18th birthday. A practical exam does not take place at Vaarbewijs I and II. The examination for the Vaarbewijs II is more extensive and also includes cartographic tasks.

The tests are carried out by the Stichting Vaarbewijs- en marifoonexamens (VAMEX), which also issues the certificates.
