Gaetano Vacani
Gaetano Vacani , also Gaetano Vaccani (* 1763 in Milan ; † November 2, 1844 ibid) was an Italian decorative and ornament painter.
Life
In official files he is called Vacani, in his printed works he is called Vaccani. He is considered one of the main representatives of the Lombard decorative art of the neoclassical period and was a student of Giocondo Albertolli . Vacani's specialty was working in the gray in gray technique .
Works (selection)
- In 1809 he created the decorative part of the paintings in the Sala delle Udienze solenni in the Palazzo Reale in Milan.
- The large allegorical frescoes of the two Appiani halls of the Sala del Trono are also by Vacani.
- In the early 19th century, Vacani frescoed the church of Santa Maria Assunta in Borgo Ticino .
- In 1807 he decorated the box parapets and the ceiling of the Teatro della Scala together with G. Perego.
- In 1812 his work Ornamenti diversi ad uso delle scuoli came out.
- The book Raccolta di compartimenti e d'ornati per la decorazione di private abitazioni e di pubblici edifici civili, militari ed ecclesiastici ed una serie di disegni per la decorazione interna d'edifici teatrali ideati sulle reali dimensioni dei principali teatri d'Italia from 1832 remained unfinished.
