Life

Vadim Werbitzky was born in Munich in 1961. He received his first music lessons at the age of seven, first piano lessons , later organ lessons . He wrote his first compositions at the age of thirteen. After graduating from high school, he studied from 1982 to 1992 at the faculties of mathematics, computer science, theology and philosophy of the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and the Technical University in Munich . During this time he continued his independent occupation with composition. A turning point was his acquaintance with Edison Wassiljewitsch Denisov , who invited him to his class at the Paris Schola Cantorum . Another milestone in the composer's career was the meeting with the musicologist and composer Alexander Ivanovich Rowenko . Despite the distinctly contemporary musical language of his compositions, the influence of polyphony , early ecclesiastical monody , various folk music traditions and Indonesian gamelan is clear.

In 2012 Vadim Werbitzky initiated the Timeless Music project in Karlsruhe with specially designed concert programs to reach a wider audience. Two years later, this resulted in the Karlsruhe Ensemble Timeless Music .
